Penguin Proof

Well you come into my house and you tell me a lie
You say that every single bird was meant to fly
But I got a heavy penguin sitting on the floor
And he aint never flown out of my front door
So we gotta break it down to the cold hard facts
And stop the foolish nonsense falling through the cracks
Gotta build a little trap for the things you say
And let the ancient logic wash the lies away

Oh the major premise sets the boundary line
The minor premise steps inside it looking fine
And the necessary conclusion has to drop
Its a logical train that you just cant stop
If A is B and B is C
Then A is C and the truth is free
Yeah you cant argue with the syllogism man
Its the finest little trap in the master plan

Now the structure can be valid but the facts are wrong
You can sing a lie inside a perfectly good song
If you say all dogs are made of solid gold
And my buddy is a dog then the truth is told
That my buddy is a shiny little golden pup
But the logic only works if the facts hold up
You need a sound foundation for the house to stand
Or the syllogism sinks into the muddy sand

And Socrates is a man underneath the sky
So Socrates is mortal and he drinks the cup
