Apeiron (The Infinite Deep)

Look for the starting line look for the seed
Look for the root of the physical weeds
But if it has a beginning it must have a bound
A limit in space that you draw on the ground
So the ultimate source cannot have a start
It cannot be born it cannot depart
It has no beginning it is the supreme
The unbegotten engine of the physical dream

Oh the Apeiron! The infinite deep
The immortal watcher while the elements sleep
It encompasses all and it steers every course
The Boundless the deathless the ultimate source
Yeah it has no end and it has no wall
The indefinite principle holding it all

Now Thales said water was making the whole
But how can the water be in the control
The elements battle The wet and the dry
The hot of the fire the cold of the sky
If one of these forces was infinite mass
The opposite forces would shatter like glass
If water was endless the fire would fade
Destroyed long since in the bed it had made
So the origin point must be neutral and vast
Or the war of the elements never would last

Oh the Apeiron! The infinite deep
The immortal watcher while the elements sleep
It encompasses all and it steers every course
The Boundless the deathless the ultimate source
Yeah it has no end and it has no wall
The indefinite principle holding it all

Locked in a war of the cold and the hot
So the Boundless must be something that they are not
It’s steering the cosmos it’s spinning the wheel
It’s separating out everything that you feel
The bark of the tree and the dust of the stone
Extracted and shaped from the great Unknown

If it was fire
We would have burned long since
If it was water
We would have drowned long since
The Boundless
